Appraisals

Robert B. Taylor has successfully completed the personal property appraiser certification program with the Certified Appraisers Guild of America and is a member in good standing. Robert Taylor Antiques was established in 1980 and Robert has sold and/or appraised antiques and personal property since that time. We do not appraise real estate, automobiles, furs, or jewelry containing precious stones.

TYPES OF APPRAISALS
Fair Market Value - is the price at which property would exchange hands between a willing buyer and a willing seller, neither being under compulsion to buy or to sell, and both having reasonable knowledge. Fair Market Value appraisals are primarily performed for estate purposes including pre-estate planning, equitable distribution of assets, and tax-deductible donations. Replacement Value appraisals are primarily performed for insurance purposes and are intended to reflect the actual retail replacement cost.

APPRAISAL REPORTS
Our appraisal reports include a clear statement of the conditions of the appraisal; a statement of our qualifications; detailed item descriptions including size, age, maker, and condition; specific item valuations; and total valuation.

APPRAISAL FEES
On site appraisals are billed at a rate of $100 per hour (one-hour minimum).; Additional research, when required, is billed at $50 per hour. Travel within a 50-minute radius of Aylett, Virginia is included in the appraisal fee. Additional travel time is billed at $40 per hour.
